Sometimes with remanufactured cartridges (even neww O.E.M) they
occasionally have to be "coaxed" into performing back to 100%
performance. A lot of this depends on the refilling Company, how they
sealed the cartridge and packaged it.
What happens is that sometimes some ink dries in the nozzles of the
cartridge before a secure seal can be placed on the cartridge. If this
happens you may get striped print, void areas or possibly no print at all.
First try taking a Q-tip with alcohol on it and rubbing it in a circular
motion on the printhead. Also, using another Q-tip w/alcohol, clean the
metal contacts on the cartridge as well as the contacts in the carriage
where the cartridge makes contact. It is very important that these
contacts are clean and free from ink or you may get no print at all.
If this does not help, try taking the printhead and running it under
extremely hot water for about 20-30 seconds. Run a cleaning cycle and
check the print. If still no good, try soaking just the printhead in about
1/4" of HOT water for about 10 minutes. If this still does not alleviate
the problem, try using about a 30% ammonia 70% water solution. Each
time the cartridge is put back in the printer, you should try running a
cleaning cycle to dislodge the dried ink.
If you try these steps and it still does not help the copy quality of the
cartridge, then I would suggest sending it back. It is not too often that
you have to take such measures, but in light of the savings that you receive
with remanufactured cartridges, we think that it is worth the extra steps.
There is one other alternative you can explore before sending the cartridge
back. We have recently started stocking an item called "CPrime". This
unit is a cartridge clip and Syringe configuration that allows you to draw
out unwanted air bubbles and foam from the bottom portion (printhead
area) of the cartridge. I personally had to use this on two brand new out of
the box O.E.M. cartridges. With one draw on the Syringe the problem was
solved! These little Gems are worth their weight in GOLD. They can be
found on our "Accessories" page.
We stand behind our cartridges 100% and will replace any one that you
are not satisfied with, but we do ask that you try these steps prior to
sending the cartridge back. If you still decide to send the cartridge back
for replacement, all that we ask is that you supply us with a copy of the
printout that you ran so we can forward it to our supplier in order for us
to get a replacement cartridge from them.
Thank You,
